Many people believe that reskilling is only possible if you can pay for it entirely yourself. This is rarely the case. In the Netherlands, there are various subsidies, funds, and schemes that make reskilling accessible. The options available to you depend on your situation, region, and choice of training.

CA‑ICT ESF+ subsidy – 40% co-funding on IT training courses
Through the CA-ICT ESF+ labor training subsidy, you can participate in Fast Lane's IT reskilling programs with 40% co-funding. This makes following a reskilling path much more accessible—whether you are currently seeking work or are employed!
This subsidy helps you strengthen your knowledge and skills to improve your position in the labor market, without high training costs becoming a barrier.
Who is this subsidy scheme intended for?
The CA‑ICT ESF+ subsidy scheme is designed for anyone wishing to strengthen their position in the labor market, including:
- Employees with up to MBO‑4 level education looking to take the next step in their career
- Job seekers, with or without benefits
- Freelancers (ZZP) wishing to invest in their professional development
- Status holders and Ukrainian refugees looking to make a new start in the Dutch IT labor market
- IT professionals seeking further development
With this subsidy, you increase your future opportunities in IT while significantly reducing the costs of training.
Regional training voucher – Utrecht Region (MaakJeStap)
Do you live in the province of Utrecht, the Amersfoort region, or the Gooi‑ en Vechtstreek? Then you may be eligible for the Training Voucher via MaakJeStap.
What is the Training Voucher?
- A reimbursement of up to €5,000
Conditions
- You are 18 years or older
- You live in the aforementioned regions
- The training has not yet started
- There is a financial barrier
Flevoland Leert – subsidy for residents and employers
Do you live or work in Almere, Lelystad, Urk, or Zeewolde? The Flevoland Leert Development Fund can help you with the financing of training or reskilling.
What can you receive?
- Subsidy up to €3,500
Subsidy via UWV or Municipality

TechMeUp – interest-free student loan for IT reskilling
Not everyone qualifies for subsidies, or the available amount may not be sufficient. In such cases, we collaborate with TechMeUp: a foundation specifically established to support career changers moving into IT!
What is TechMeUp?
TechMeUp helps ambitious career changers reskill for IT by offering interest-free study and living loans.
The borrowed amount can be used for:
- Tuition fees for the training
- Fixed costs during your training
Why TechMeUp is unique
- You can borrow up to €7,500
- 100% interest-free = you never pay back more than you borrow
- No administrative or additional costs
- Repayment only starts after you have found a job
- Established as a foundation with a social purpose
What are the requirements?
- You are at least 18 years old
- You have Dutch nationality
Or
- You have lived in the Netherlands for at least 1 year
- You have a residence permit valid for at least 1 more year
TechMeUp is not a replacement for subsidies, but a responsible supplement when other schemes are not available or only partially sufficient.
